THE SHOW

The LTAM Partnership, in association with Godiva Productions Ltd and the Femme Natale theatre company proudly present this fabulous new, uniquely Kiwi, musical comedy.

Of all the sectors badly affected by Covid lockdowns in 2020, the performing arts sector was among the hardest hit. Artists that previously made their living through live performance found their livelihoods virtually ceased overnight for several months. Such was the experience of both singer/songwriter Andrew London and playwright/singer April Phillips in their own separate arts sector fields.

Not to be discouraged by this, they turned their energies and enforced downtime to writing a musical based on Andrew’s portfolio of clever songwriting based on quintessentially Kiwi-humour, and April’s carefully-honed skills in creative and comedic playwriting. They were spurred on by the conviction that, one day, normality would return to the performing arts sector, and then it would be time to roll out a brand new home-grown musical.

YOU SHOWED US YOU WANTED THIS TOO

In order to finance this creative phase of the project Andrew and April launched a successful Boosted crowdfunding platform.  They were blown away by the generous support and the huge enthusiasm for the project. Collectively, you, the fans, showed us that you loved the idea of a collaboration to deliver a stage musical and were keen to back this creative duo’s innovation and determination to hang tough and creatively use their enforced lay-off.

So here it is!  We're so proud and excited to bring this show to you.  Thank you for your support and we can't wait to see you at the show!

ANDREW LONDON

Andrew 1.jpg

Andrew is well known to music lovers all over New Zealand having regularly toured the country for years with Hot Club Sandwich, The Retro Pack, and with The Andrew London Trio. He's been a regular performer on Norfolk Island and in Australia and was also invited to play in Saudi Arabia.  You've seen him perform on TV and you've heard him on radio.  During the 2020 lockdown, Andrew and his bass playing wife Kirsten entertained fans with new songs in their Live At The Londons' broadcasts.

Based on the Kapiti Coast he's a songwriter and satirist whose songs explore social and political themes and although humour and satire is very much to the fore (you'll laugh your socks off), poignancy and pathos are often not far away.  His whimsical songs reflect the national psyche and playfully lampoon many of mainstream New Zealand society's obsessions and taboos. They're clever and they're flippin' funny!

The songs are swing, country, jazz and blues influenced and many will have you laughing and tapping your feet at the same time.

He's released over a dozen albums and has written so many popular songs that in 2020 seventy of his best loved hits were turned into a book of lyrics, with the foreward written by Sir Geoffrey Palmer.

Andrew's been compared to Tim Minchin, John Clarke and the Flight of the Conchords.

We, like his many fans, think his songs are so good and so relatable that they perfectly lent themselves to telling a bigger story.

And here we are, with a show that was named after one of his most popular tunes; "Let's Talk About ME!"
